Call for Papers: Central-East European Societies on the Map of Europe
Intersections - East European Journal of Society and Politics is announcing a call for papers for its special issue entitled “Central European societies on the map of Europe” to be published as the 4th issue of 2018. The journal special issue aims to bring together papers that analyse the state of societies in Central and East Europe in a comparative and/or longitudinal perspective. The European Social Survey provides an excellent source for analysing the changes in our societies. The editors thus welcome abstracts that comparatively address topics covered by the ESS across Europe and demonstrate how the societies of the region are approaching or diverging from those of old EU member states. Accordingly, abstracts about research that applies not only a comparative but also a longitudinal lens are encouraged, where data permits. In terms of topical frames, the European Social Survey supports a wide range of areas of research, including (1) personal and institutional trust and its role in societies, (2) welfare attitudes, (3) attitudes towards migrants and migration - especially relevant in light of the recent refugee crisis, (4) causes and consequences of social and personal wellbeing, (5) social inequalities in health, (6) individual values based on Shalom Schwartz’s value map, and (7) understanding and evaluating democracy or political preferences.
Paper submissions which are accepted can also be presented and discussed at the 2nd ESS Visegrad Regional Network conference to be held in 7-8 June, 2018 in Budapest. For authors with accepted abstracts to the special issue, funding will be available for travel and accommodation.
Deadline for abstract submission: 4 March, 2018
Authors will receive feedback from the editorial team by 16 March, 2018.
The deadline for submitting the final papers is 30 July, 2018.
